26 years at the bench, between Florence and Carrara marble.
The Nicomena workshop opened in 2000 in Marina di Carrara, from a passion for precious metal nurtured since the years of training in Florence.
Here, a few steps from the sea and the marble quarries, bespoke jewellery is designed and made, precious pieces are repaired and watches of every era are brought back to life.
Nothing is outsourced: the person who welcomes you at the bench is the same person who will work your jewel, from drawing to final polish.
At Bino Bini’s school of goldsmithing, Florence.
Florence is the cradle of Italian goldsmithing, from the workshops of Ponte Vecchio to the great Renaissance masters. That is where the craft was learned, at Bino Bini’s school.
A rigorous approach of drawing, bench technique and respect for the material that still guides every piece made in the workshop.
Five gestures, handed down from the Florentine bottega.
Every jewel begins with a conversation. We listen to the story, study proportions and draw by hand until the right form appears.
The design is carved in wax or built directly in metal, to check size, weight and fit before the final work.
The precious metal is cast, drawn into sheet or wire and forged at the bench using traditional Tuscan techniques.
Stones are selected and set by hand under the microscope, choosing the setting that best brings out their light.
File, emery, burin and polishing: the final hours make the difference between a jewel and an Italian jewel.
